On June 14, Dennis and Chris take on the full IRONMAN distance. Every kilometer is dedicated to the Creative Learning Haven β books, literacy classes, and creativity for refugee children and women in northern Uganda.

Why we race
226 kilometers, dedicated to a cause.
An IRONMAN is 226 kilometers of choosing to keep going when stopping would be easier. That's also what learning looks like for a child in a refugee settlement β showing up, every day, against the odds. We didn't want this race to be just about us, so we're dedicating it to a place built on exactly that kind of perseverance: the Creative Learning Haven.

We swim, bike, and run 226 kilometers in Austria. The real distance we're closing is the one between a child in Imvepi and a book to read.
The project
The Creative Learning Haven
The Creative Learning Haven (CLH) is a learning and creative space in the Imvepi Refugee Settlement, Terego District, in northern Uganda. It supplements overcrowded, under-resourced schools β giving children, women, and youth a safe place to read, learn, and create. As the people who run it put it: visitors to CLH become family.
It's implemented on the ground by Hope Rising South Sudan (HoRiSS), a refugee-led organization that knows the community from the inside, with backing from the Polish foundation MoyoMinds. The building already stands. What it needs now is to come alive β to launch and stabilize its core programs.
